SEX THERAPIST CALIFORNIA
My practice offers therapy services in support of creatives and change-makers from diverse populations, including couples and relationship constellations, individuals from mixed-race backgrounds, second-generation immigrants, and Adult Third Culture Kids, and am delighted to welcome clients of all genders and sexual orientations. I excel in addressing issues related to relationship dynamics, communication skills, and intimacy, with a particular focus on supporting partners in finding their authentic voices and co-creating their relational experiences. My expertise extends to sex therapy and human sexuality, making me a valuable resource for those seeking to deepen their connection and navigate sexual challenges.
However, my practice may not be the best fit for those facing more acute issues such as severe substance abuse or addiction, acute trauma, eating disorders or acute psychiatric conditions. For these cases, I recommend seeking specialized care from relevant professionals.

FAQs about sex therapy

As a sex therapist, my role in the therapeutic relationship is to create a non-judgmental safe space where individuals, couples and relationship partners can openly discuss their sexuality issues and challenges. I help clients explore their sexual identities, desires, and boundaries while addressing issues such as intimacy, performance anxiety, and sexual dysfunction.
During a sex therapy session, we begin with a thorough assessment to understand the client's history, concerns, and goals. Sessions may include education about sexual desire, sexual health, communication exercises, and techniques to enhance intimacy and pleasure. We might also talk about underlying emotional or psychological factors impacting sexual well-being such as feelings of shame or anxiety, or a history of sexual abuse or trauma.
It's important to note that there is absolutely no sexual contact or sexual activity of any kind in sessions; the focus is on dialogue and understanding, while learning new skills, and developing practical strategies to support you in healing and improving your relationship to your own body, sexual relationships and pleasure.

In sex therapy, I ask a range of questions to understand my clients' experiences, concerns, and goals. Common topics include sexual history, current sexual practices, and relationship dynamics. I may inquire about any past trauma, addiction, sexual problems, medical conditions, or medications that might affect sexual health. Questions about sexual preferences, fantasies, and boundaries help me understand individual desires and comfort levels.
We also discuss emotional intimacy issues, communication patterns, relationships and any feelings of anxiety or dissatisfaction related to sex. Exploring these areas allows us to identify underlying issues and develop strategies to address them.
Remember, each person's therapy journey is unique and will be tailored to support their specific needs, values, and life goals. The questions I ask and the topics we discuss are always guided by what is most relevant and meaningful to you as whole person, ensuring a personalized and effective therapeutic experience.

A sexologist is a professional who studies human sexuality, often focusing on research, education, and the scientific aspects of sexual behavior, sexual development, and sexual health. Sexologists may work in academic settings, conduct research, or provide sexual education to the public.
In contrast, a sex therapist is a licensed mental health professional who specializes in treating sexual issues through therapeutic techniques. Sex therapists are trained to work directly with individuals and couples to address concerns such as intimacy problems, sexual dysfunction, and communication issues related to sex.
As a sex therapist, my role is to provide a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can explore their sexual concerns and improve their sexual relationships. I offer personalized therapy sessions tailored to each client's needs, values, and goals, focusing on enhancing intimacy and connection, resolving conflicts, healing, and promoting sexual well-being through dialogue and practical strategies.
